This LEGO Technic kit was developed in partnership with Land Rover, and captures the Defenders modern lines and sculpted surfaces. Not only does this model look realistic, it actually functions like an actual Defender, with features opening doors that reveal the detailed interior of the car.
Inside of the cabin you’ll find a detailed dashboard and an actual transmission system with a lever to pick from high and low gear ratios. LEGO says it’s the most sophisticated LEGO Technic gearbox to date, and with a selector for actually changing gears, it’s believable. The front seats also have the ability to fold forward that give you a clearer view of the 4-speed sequential gearbox that is nestled below.
Looking at the inline 6-cylinder engine that actually gets the gearbox moving, you’ll find actual moving pistons. The motor will transfer that power through a working All-Wheel-Drive system with 3 differentials. The Defender features independent suspension on both axles, and to top it off, it has a working winch! The attention to detail on the LEGO Defender is like no other, but you better be ready to have some free time to put together all 2,573 pieces.
