The Lexus LC500 is the company’s current signature grand tourer blending high-end luxury with a powerful 471 horsepower naturally aspirated V8 engine. Lexus plans on elevating the platform with a new limited limited edition version taking inspiration from the sky and the machines built to conquer it.
Dubbed the Lexus LC500 Inspiration Edition, this grand touring coupe adopts a theme inspired by the partnership formed between Lexus engineers and air race pilot Yoshihide Muroya. Applying technology and aerodynamic designs developed by the Lexus team for their automobiles, Muroya was able take his plane to the next level and win the 2017 Red Bull Air Race World Championship.
Now, the engineers at Lexus are taking what they learned in that partnership and bringing it back to the LC500 ultimately resulting in an aerodynamically efficient spoiler system with functional winglets that create vortices that smooth turbulent air passing the car. This wing became the pinnacle of the LC500 Inspiration.
Limited to only 100 units, this LC500 will be a rare collectors piece with a serialized plate on the center console noting its production number. It comes only in an exclusive Obsidian Black exterior color with huge 21″ gloss black wheels to match. Inside is a luxurious tan and black Alcantara upholstery. Performance wise, it comes with a Torsen high-capacity torque-sensing limited-slip rear differential.
The icing on the cake is the carbon fiber reinforced plastic(CFRP) roof to compliment the unique wing design. The Lexus LC500 Inspiration Edition is a testament to the beauty of innovation and engineering.
